What’s Your Personal Style?
Do you think you have an androgynous fashion style? This post will help you answer that question and define your style. Androgynous fashion style is traditionally known as embodying more masculine qualities. I’ve chosen several celebrities that fall into the androgynous fashion style type to demonstrate this personal style.
Your style can change over time and will most likely fall into more than one personal style type. Knowing the style that you feel drawn to and feel best in will help you make better shopping decisions and help you feel good in your clothes to save you time, money, and frustration.

Androgynous Fashion Style
Look 1: Fashion Week
This first outfit is a street-style look from Fashion Week. She’s wearing a menswear-inspired suit that’s double-breasted making this look feel androgynous. Her suit is slightly oversized, not very fitted or tailored to her body. Her shoes are more of an androgynous, masculine, heavier type of trainers.
Look 1: Clemence Posey
One of the celebrities with an androgynous style is Clemence Posey. Here in this first look, she’s wearing a trench coat that’s slightly oversized and feels like a menswear-inspired piece. She’s wearing a loafer and a white button-up shirt underneath. The way she’s styling these pieces together are what creates a masculine feel.
Look 2: Clemence Posey
In this next look, she’s wearing another menswear-inspired suit. It’s a double-breasted dark navy blazer with exaggerated shoulders. While there are some trendy elements to this look there are details that make it feel more androgynous. An androgynous style type typically doesn’t enjoy wearing dresses or skirts. Instead, they feel better in pant options.
Look 1: Kristen Stewart
Another celebrity who does androgynous fashion style well is Kristen Stewart. She’s wearing a suit with a fitted crop top underneath. Her pants are inspired by menswear. They’re not a fitted silhouette or a flowy wide silhouette like in a minimal style pant. She styled this look with a pair of trainers to make it feel more like an androgynous style type.
Look 2: Kristen Stewart
In this next look, she’s also wearing a full suit, but she’s popped the collar. Subtle details usually make an outfit lean more into one of these style types. She has the sleeves rolled up and the silhouette of the pants also feels more masculine. The charcoal gray is traditionally a masculine color, and her lace-up oxfords are also menswear-inspired. Some of these pieces work across different style types, but how they’re styled determines which personal style type outfits fall into.
Look 3: Kristen Stewart
In this next look, she’s wearing a relaxed-fit button-up shirt. The collar is slightly bigger, and the sleeves are rolled up high adding more structure. These simple styling tweaks make it feel more androgynous. She also has her shirt tucked into a relaxed pair of joggers which feels more masculine when compared to other style types. Lastly, she paired it with sneakers again to complete the androgynous look.
Look 4: Kristen Stewart
For this next look, she’s wearing a black leather moto jacket. We’ve seen this in the edgy style type, but she has styled it with black chino pants, giving this overall look a masculine silhouette. In addition, she’s paired this look with Vans sneakers, which are more androgynous.
Look 1: Cara Delevingne
Another celebrity who embodies the androgynous style type is Cara Delevingne. Here she’s wearing all black which we also tend to see in an edgy or classic style type. However, her blazer isn’t fitted to her body and has slightly exaggerated shoulders. It makes her shoulders look broad. Also, the silhouette of her pants are also baggy.
Look 2: Cara Delevingne
In this next look, she is wearing another suit. Although androgynous style does not have to be all suits, some elements in the overall style are masculine. Often, you’ll see a menswear silhouette trouser or blazer. She’s wearing a pair of oxfords and completed this look with a knit beanie, giving it an androgynous feel.
Look 1: Christy Turlington
For this last look, I chose this outfit from Christy Turlington. All in all, her style is not masculine, but this particular look feels androgynous. She’s wearing a long slightly oversized black trench coat with a pair of black oxfords. The trench coat, traditionally a darker color, is not fitted making this outfit feel androgynous.
Having an androgynous style doesn’t necessarily mean that this is your style from head to toe every day, but you may incorporate qualities from several personal style types into your outfit.
