There are 9 pieces you won’t regret buying for your closet. If you’re anything like me you may have learned the hard way to shop without regrets (or maybe you’re still learning). I spent years purchasing items I later regretted. Pieces that I bought because I desperately needed a new outfit for an occasion I had or items that were final sale. It’s taken me a long time to get to a place in my closet where I don’t make purchase mistakes anymore. But I can honestly say I’ve learned from my mistakes and am here to share 9 pieces you won’t regret buying for your wardrobe.

9 Pieces You Won’t Regret

1. A Great Pair Of Jeans.

My favorite pair of jeans are by Frame. They’re a straight leg with a high waist and a raw hem. One thing I recommend when you are looking for a pair of jeans that you will never regret buying is that there’s nothing on the pockets. That’s one of the details that makes them classic. When there are embellishments on the pockets it makes the jeans look cheap. Investing in a pair that’s a medium to dark blue wash you will never regret buying. They could be any style that you love and feel great in.

2. An Elevated White T-Shirt.

An elevated white tee isn’t your basic white tee. It doesn’t matter if it’s a crew neck or v-neck that’s more preference and what you feel great in. My favorite is from rag & bone. It’s a heavier weight so even though it’s white it’s not sheer. Make sure you’re doing a front tuck when you’re wearing your tee. You will never regret buying an elevated white t-shirt.

3. The Leather Jacket.

A classic leather jacket is my next item that you won’t regret purchasing. You could do faux leather or a denim jacket but you want a jacket that’s classic and fits you well. Look for one that is an easy spring or fall layer for any outfit. A great leather jacket or a jacket of your choice is one that you’ll always need. Having an extra layer in the fall or spring not only keeps you warm, but it completes an outfit. I style my leather jacket over dresses or with a t-shirt and jeans. It’s a versatile staple in my closet. The key is to find a jacket that’s versatile for your lifestyle and you will never regret buying it, even if the price tag is a little higher.

4. Delicate Gold Or Silver Necklace.

The next item you’ll never regret buying is a delicate gold or silver necklace. Mine is from Maya Brenner and I wear it all the time. Look for one that’s waterproof so you don’t need to take it off. A staple necklace goes with everything and adds a little extra something that you don’t even have to think about.

5. A Classic Black Blazer.

Spending a bit more on a classic black fitted blazer will be worth it in the long run. I’ve had mine for eight or nine years. A classic black blazer easily works from day to night. I have worn mine for business meetings when I wanted to add more polish. It also works for a night out, and I’ve worn it casually with a roll up of the sleeves. Make sure you have a classic black blazer because it’s a versatile piece that you will use in your wardrobe for years.

6. Black Designer Crossbody Bag.

You’ll never regret buying a black designer crossbody handbag. This item is definitely worth the investment. It’s a piece that you will use again and again in your wardrobe. A designer crossbody bag is one of those bags that easily goes from day to night. You can style it with a t-shirt and jeans and it automatically elevates your look. I recommend every woman has one. It’s worth so much more than 10 so-so bags. Those you will probably regret.

7. A Nude Bra.

Spending money on a great nude bra is essential. My favorite is a style from Natori. I recommend it all the time to my Personal Styling clients because it’s that perfect bra that you can wear with dresses or with t-shirts. It smooths everything out and you don’t see any lines. A great nude bra is definitely an item you’ll never regret buying.

8. The Silk Blouse.

Next, I recommend buying a silk blouse. I recommend having a solid neutral color over a print. It will work with so many things in your wardrobe. You can style it with jeans or leggings. Wear it with a cardigan or a skirt. When you’re looking for a classic blouse if you’re busty avoid pockets in the chest area. It accentuates that area in a way that is not flattering. Look for something without pockets if you’re more busty.

A solid will be more versatile. Prints you may over time get bored with leading you to have regrets. Find a blouse that you can style with a lot of things in your wardrobe and one that is tailored for your body.

9. Day To Night Dress.

The final item you will never regret is a day-to-night dress. My favorites are from Veronica Beard. I find that I like wearing a floral print on dresses and don’t get tired of the print as long as it’s in neutral colors. A day to night dress is one of those pieces that you’ll have in your wardrobe for years. It’s an item that I suggest spending a little more on when you find one that you absolutely love. You will be able to dress them down with sneakers or dress them up with heels. They’re so versatile, and I’ve never regretted buying any of mine. You want to focus on finding a style that is classic and works for your body and lifestyle and you’ll wear it for years.

I am at a place in my wardrobe and in my life where I no longer have regrets. I know what to buy, what works for my body and my lifestyle, and the things that I need. That’s such an important piece to building a closet that you love and having no wardrobe regrets.
