7 Spring 2022 Trends To Try
1. Head-to-toe bright colors.
While I typically don’t wear bright colors, I am excited about the head-to-toe bright color trend. I do like wearing a bright-colored dress or a jumpsuit, but I’m also loving the idea of an outfit being monochrome but not in a neutral color.
2. Raffia accessories.
You probably have raffia accessories already, like a straw beach bag or hat. This season, raffia has gone beyond your basic beach essentials. It’s in shoes and even in elevated bags. This is a fun and easy spring and summer trend to try. As long as it’s a style that’s classic, I feel like this is one of those trends that will be around for a while.
3. A modern take on the halter top.
Halter tops work great when you’re not busty. They accentuate the shoulder area. So if you’re not too broad halter tops are a style that has been around for a long time. There is a modern ‘twist’ this season though because the trend is a twisted halter top. This style for a beach cover-up, an easy dress, or a top is chic and stylish.
4. Matching sets.
The fourth spring trend that I’m loving but I don’t think I’m going to try is matching sets. I’ve loved it on other people, it just doesn’t exactly feel like me. Matching sets are everywhere this season. I’ve seen a crop top with high-waisted pants and on the right body type, I think they look really cute. So if matching sets look fun to you I definitely recommend trying this trend. But again like most trend items, I always recommend trends are not where you want to be spending the majority of your wardrobe budget. Spend your wardrobe budget on your essentials. Those will help you get dressed easily.
5. The poplin dress.
These are your heavier-weight cotton dresses for spring and summer. Poplin dresses have been around for a long time, and I’m loving the styles that are out this season. I personally don’t like a dress that has a lot of fabric as it makes my curvy petite frame look shorter and bigger. Some of these poplin dresses do have voluminous details like big sleeves and tiered ruffles that work great for taller, narrow-body types. But you can also find a poplin dress in a more classic style. It’s more about the fabric and the construction of the dress that makes it a poplin dress.
Poplin dresses have more structure to them. They tend to not be see-through even in white. If you opt for one in a neutral color like white, black, or blush I think you will get a lot of use out of them not just for this spring and summer but for spring and summers to come.
6. The cut-out trend.
This trend has been around for a while now. I especially love the tops with cutouts. If you get them in the right places for your body type, I think a lot of people can wear them beautifully. Look for cut-out items in solid neutral colors like white or black. You’ll get a lot more use out of them in neutral solid colors. But again, you’re probably not going to want to invest a lot in a cut-out top or bottom. I’ve also seen the cut-out trend in dresses. That detail has also been around for a while, but again I recommend it’s something for a specific body type or more appropriate for the younger generation. I’m going to try this trend in a top over a cutout dress. But for a lot of us, the cut-out dress trend is super cute and will work great for spring and summer.
7. Asymmetrical necklines.
This trend was around last summer as well. Asymmetrical necklines in tops or dresses will have both straps going to one side and leaving one shoulder open. I think they’re super chic if you get them in a style that is flattering for your body type, and in a neutral solid color to get the most use out of them.
