Shop Your Closet For Your Valentine’s Look
Below you’ll find 5 easy Valentine’s Day outfits with clothes that are already in your closet. These looks don’t have to be just for Valentine’s Day, they can also be a guide for how to build an outfit for a night out with friends or a date night any time of year.
One easy way to start pulling outfits together for Valentine’s Day is to go through your wardrobe and see what pieces you have that are in pink, burgundy, or red. If it’s a piece that’s hanging in your closet, ideally it’s one that you love to wear. Look for a piece that’s a little dressier than your casual items.
If you follow my tips on building a Capsule Wardrobe then chances are you’ll have everything you need to create a great look for Valentine’s Day (or any day) without shopping.

5 Valentine’s Looks In Your Closet
1. A Silk Blouse.
If you have a blouse in a Valentine’s color, think about pairing it with a black leather pencil skirt and a pair of heels. Instead of a solid color blouse, maybe yours has a floral print or some other kind of print with pink or red. Incorporating traditional Valentine’s colors into your look is an easy way to create an outfit from what’s already in your closet.
2. A Floral Dress.
For another Valentine’s Day outfit, look for a floral dress in your closet that has these colors. Style your dress with a leather jacket or cardigan. It can be a neutral cardigan or jacket, or if you have a pink or red even better. You just need a hint of pink or red in your look to make it feel festive for Valentine’s Day. Then just add your ankle boots or chic sneakers. I love wearing a feminine floral dress with my Golden Goose sneakers. If you’re going somewhere more casual wearing a dress with sneakers is super stylish.
3. Sweater + Faux Leather Leggings.
Styling a cashmere sweater in a Valentine’s color with a pair of faux leather leggings and heels is another Valentine’s Day outfit that you probably already have in your closet. Adding heels and faux leather leggings can make an otherwise casual sweater elevated for a night out. Now if you don’t have a sweater in these colors, style a black or neutral sweater with a pop of color bag or shoe in red, burgundy, or pink.
You could swap the heels for a pair of boots if you’re going to be walking a lot.
4. Red Heels.
If you don’t have a lot of color in your wardrobe (like me), style a neutral blouse with a little black jacket, black jeans, and a pair of red heels. A black or ivory cardigan or a leather jacket works too. You have a lot of options to mix and match in your wardrobe, especially if you’re following the recommendations I make about a capsule wardrobe. If you have those clothing staples then these five looks will already be in your closet.
The red heels are that pop of color that brings an otherwise neutral outfit into a Valentine’s Day inspired look.
5. A Cami + Blazer.
For my final Valentine’s Day outfit with items you already have in your closet, style a silk cami in Valentine’s colors with a blazer. Roll up the sleeves to make it more casual. Add your favorite pair of jeans and a pair of heels to elevate it and make it feel night-out-ready. You can also do this look with a black or ivory cami and add a pop of Valentine’s Day color with your shoes or bag.
