9 Styling Tips For Spring Outfits
1. Switch Out Darker Colors For Lighter Ones.
One of the easiest ways to create casual chic outfits with your wardrobe as you transition from winter to spring is to switch out darker colors like black, charcoal, or navy for lighter colors like white, lavender, and pink. You don’t need to wear head to toe lighter colors but start incorporating more spring and summer colors or floral prints into your outfits.
2. Wear Denim Shorts Instead Of Jeans.
Start wearing your denim shorts instead of jeans. I like to pair them with a relaxed fit sweater. It’s a great way to create casual outfits that transition easily into spring while still being warm for those cooler mornings.
3. Opt For A Skirt Over Pants.
Wearing a skirt instead of your jeans or pants is a great way to start transitioning those same pieces in your wardrobe into spring. The length of your skirt doesn’t matter but, being able to show a bit of skin whether it’s your ankle or calf helps make casual outfits feel more spring appropriate. I also like to push up the sleeves to show more skin that might have been pretty covered up over those winter months.
4. Start Wearing Neutral Ankle Boots Over Black Ones.
I think ankle boots are a wardrobe essential for this time of year. I recommend having a black and neutral pair. As we’re transitioning into spring I love to switch out my black ankle booties for my tan ones. A darker shoe just like darker clothes, can make a look feel heavy and more wintery. Transitioning from a black shoe and switching it out to the same style of shoe but in a neutral color is a great way to style your outfits from winter to spring.
5. Layering.
The next way to create casual chic outfits and transition your wardrobe from winter to spring is by layering. Layering is key when styling outfits in general but especially when putting together winter to spring outfits. Layers include cardigans, jackets, and blazers. Not only do layers help pull a look together, but they are also functional to keep you warm.
6. Wear A Dress With Ankle Booties.
While I love wearing dresses all year round with opaque tights or over the knee boots, as we move into spring keeping legs bare with ankle boots is the perfect casual chic outfit.
7. Add A Sweater.
Another way to start transitioning your wardrobe from winter to spring outfits is by styling a sweater over a dress. I love that it looks like two pieces instead of one and that it’s also functional. Wearing a sweater over a dress can also work as a layer that can be taken on or off and spring temperatures change throughout the day.
I also like to push up the sleeves to make it feel more casual and show skin.
8. Style Ankle Boots With Shorts.
I love styling ankle boots with a pair of denim shorts, a simple white tee, and a layer like a cardigan. Switching out your heavier sweaters for a lighter layer and adding a pair of shorts with ankle boots creates an easy spring outfit.
9. Swap Out Tall Or OTK Boots For Chic Sneakers.
In the winter months, I love wearing my over the knee boots. But when the weather turns to spring, I’m ready to put those aside and wear my chic sneakers instead. Switching out your shoes is a simple way to transition your wardrobe to spring. Allowing a bit of skin to show is a great way to bring in spring and create casual chic outfits with what’s already in your closet.
