It’s graduation season! Whether you’re attending the ceremony for a loved one or need help figuring out what to wear under your graduation gown, I’ve got you covered. Graduation season usually involves lots of walking on lawns, backyard celebrations, and plenty of pictures being taken. You want to be comfortable, but still look put together. It’s also a big day for you or whoever you’re celebrating, so you certainly want to look stylish for those pictures! I’ve styled 6 looks below that will check all of those boxes.

For the Attendee

I’ve taken into account the need for comfortable shoes, especially if you’ll be on a lawn. Heeled shoes on grass are not practical. You don’t want to sink into the dirt! All of the shoes I’ve chosen have a wide block heel or are wedge sandals. These types of shoes allow you to walk comfortably wherever you are. I also specifically chose pieces that you’ll wear again and again for years to come. All of the dresses I’ve chosen could be worn to other events; a nice brunch, a dinner on the patio, bachelorette events. I love it when pieces are versatile and can be used in many different ways in your closet.

For the Graduate

If you’re a graduate, first of all, congratulations! A few notes on some of my picks below for you. Same as the attendee, you need comfortable and walkable shoes. Perhaps more importantly for you, as you’re the one walking across the stage! For your dress, make sure the dress doesn’t pop out underneath your robe; the two different lengths would look odd in pictures. Graduation gowns are typically black, meaning your choice of dress color underneath doesn’t matter too much. However, if your gown is a different color and might be more see-through, definitely consider that when choosing the color of your dress underneath. Finally, your main accessory is going to be your graduation cap and any sashes you may wear. Stick to simple, timeless accessories. Those pictures will look so amazing and your degree is the best accessory!
